With 1:34 remaining and down by 6 points, UW took over at their own 20 yardline. On 3rd down with no timouts, QB Isahiah Stanback completed a 19 yard pass to the USC 15 yard line with 0:03 showing on the clock. Understanding the new NCAA rule that says the game clock should restart the after the chains are moved and placed down, the Husky offense was ready and in position on the line of scrimmage. But instead of placing the ball at center and starting the clock, the team of offcials took the ball away from the action and huddled for over 2 minutes. As both teams players stared and waited, the players, coaches and crowd grew irritable. Then suddenly, the referee with the ball bolted from the offical huddle, placed the ball down and motined to start the clock. As the yet again stunned

Washington snapped the ball and began the would-be game-winning play, whistles blew and officials waved their hands. Game over they said as the USC homefield clock operator was extra alert on the button. So in the end, UW was penalized for being ready, and then duped into feeling as though they were at least going to be granted one more play. As for Pac 10 officiating, things haven’t changes much.
